Do the fabled mists of Ireland look different than our mists in Maine ?

Fog, Cloud, Mist. Why does water vapor produce such evocative emotions? Scenes that are so prosaic in the broad light of day take on such mystery in a mist. Perhaps this fascination stems from my childhood summers in Long Island ? Mists rolled in during the night and hid the world. Come mid-morning it all blew out, exposing the raw sharpness of a noonday sun. I find much more comfort in the mist.

I aim to create images that project an intense sense of place, that irresistibly position you in the world of the image, whether crisp, with every atom seemingly leaping forth, or a half-discerned fog.

I want my art to transport you into a place and perhaps into a time, it should invite you into its space in a fashion dependent on your own emotional state. In my experience this makes for art worth living with.
